We are looking for experienced rabbit owners to adopt our special needs rabbits.
We think of all our bunnies and guinea pigs as very special, but there are some we need to find an extra special home for. The following are not all poorly physically, but a few of them have definitely suffered mentally from their experiences and we are looking for an experienced knowledgeable home to take care of them. Sometimes, all they need is the right home to turn their life around.
We have been asked by people why we don't just have them put to sleep. Our answer is that if we put every animal to sleep who is, or has, suffered mental trauma there won't be many humans left on this planet. For whatever reason these animals have come into our care and our responsibility, they have no one else and we do not want to let them down. If we truly felt we were not making progress with them we would have to seriously consider the dreaded option. And we would do so, because no animal should suffer needlessly. Luckily we also have a very sensible vet who is very honest and would tell us if we were onto a lost cause if we prevaricated! Or, as I see it, give us the wake up call!
There is another option. Rather than to rehome them we could just keep them all here! But again, sense awakens us. Are we really able to care for 50 rabbits and 40 guinea pigs properly, long term that is? We don't think so. They deserve more. And this is where you may come in........
