Jan 2009

We have just undertaken a rescue of 61 rabbits. They were from a situation which has been ongoing for a number of years.
I am sure that initially the owners were trying to help with the appalling number of rabbits needing help. They would take in unwanted rabbits, and buy rabbits no longer needed by breeders, or even from pet shops.
Regrettably they were not able to keep up with the expense of vaccinating and neutering. Despite several attempts by us (with the help of other rescues) to sort out the problem, it never stopped.
Sadly a lot of rabbits have suffered and died during those years, and I cannot bear to think of how many non neutered rabbits have been rehomed from there, but we truly believe it is now over.
My thanks go to Theo (Rabbit Retreat, Warwick), Lizzie, (rabbit owner, Gloucester) and Raine (rabbit owner, Oxford), who kindly helped transport some of the rabbits to other rescues.
And the rescues and Sanctuary who helped. Liz (Rainbow Retirement Home for Rabbits, Bedfordshire), The Girls at ARC (Twickenham), Kris, Alison, Louise, (Starlights Rabbit Rescue, Essex), and Chloe, (Fat Fluffs, Solihull).
As usual, we rescues have the vet bills to try and sort things out. Any help with this would be so gratefully received
